Jakarta Model United Nations (JMUN) 2011 is the first-ever MUN (Model United Nations) that is going to be held by ISAFIS (Indonesian Student Association for International Studies). ISAFIS is a youth association and has stand more than 26th years as student organizations in Indonesia, with members that came from various universities and background. Carrying its name, ISAFIS’s mission are to develop understanding on international issues among students and youth in Indonesia, and eventually promote mutual understanding among nations. ISAFIS has progressively spreads our network to national and international scope. ISAFIS’s programs consist of discussions on international issues conducted with the government, embassies, and even NGOs. To bring international studies closer through practice and real life experience, ISAFIS also provide diplomatic course adapted from Model United Nations to both members and parties interested to it.

Considering the role of youth as the next generation for creating a better future, JMUN 2011 holds the idea of achieving world peace by eliminating unfairness. JMUN 2011 will be held on 26-30 June 2011 with diverse delegates come from mainly Indonesia and also targeting to some foreign delegates. The delegates are an actively students from various universities and high schools. So far, JMUN has received some foreign delegates from Harvard University, NUS, Yonsei University, Newcastle Business School, etc. While for national delegates mostly come from UI, ITB, UGM, UNPAD, High Scope International School, SMA N 1 Bogor, etc. In JMUN, delegates will have the chance to practice and enhance their diplomacy skill through a simulation of United Nations conference. JMUN asks each delegate to step into the shoes of those from entirely dif­ferent cultures, to gain much better understanding across borders. Thus, by experiencing a model of United Nations’ conference, delegates will gain more knowledge and experience in MUN.
